Laser hair remotion can be described as selective photothermolysis or SPTL. The technique was developed in the mid-1970s by using tweezers or Intense Pulsed Light IPL to emit full spectrum light. IPL is non technically a laser, but treatment is more commonly referred to as laser hair removal.
The science behind this technology is what is known as photothermolysis. The laser can heat selectively melanin in hair follicle during heating non the rest of the skin. Because the laser can direct the area that wants to heat, directly addresses the follicle leaving the skin unscathed. Melanin is what gives skin and hair color is. There ar two types of melanin. Eumelanin gives hair brown or black and pheomelanin gives red hair or blond. Laser hair remotion treatment works best with coarse, dark hair and light skin with dark hair is the ideal combination.
Electrolysis:
Electrolysis is a method similar to laser hair remotion but is effective on all types of dissimilar hair and is the only method given the title of permanent hair removal by the FDA. Use of laser hair removal is faster, more reliable and less painful than using electrolysis. Some may think that these two technologies are the same but both techniques are completely unlike technologies. Electrolysis ar much more painful process and requires more processing time, in addition to being less reliable.
